WRITING GROUP

In the beginning was the Word.
No.
This is about the moment before the word, when everything inside you is broken open.
Words, together; multiple and multivalent, coming in a rush, sounding in a chorus, a force like a waterfall. A dam breaking. A difficult birth. (1)

Writing Group is a recurring format for writing as a sustained collective practice, a dedicated time and space in order to keep writing. It follows an interest in multiplicities of voice(s), the chorus of language and the intimacies that come with it. The group is attentive and dedicated to queer, trans, and other marginalised perspectives that share a desire to maintain this space together.

Writing Group welcomes what you’re already interested, the things you’re curious about, be it autofiction, speculative prose, queer vampire erotica, critical poetry, research fragments, performance scores, correspondence, spells, manifestos, notes, etc.

The sessions begin with an introduction round and check-in and start with simple writing prompts and exercises to shape our collective toolbox and methodology, before moving on to a more generous time for writing, often in each others’ silent presence. Exchange and feedback are occasional options and are held by structured protocols such as the Critical Response Process.

Writing Group is open for artists, cultural workers, performers, writers, and others who want to join and contribute with their presence to a shared space of language. While the group is explicitly open for any languages written and spoken, the main language of exchange and organising is English.

If you’d like to join, drop a message to info [at] withtherubbles [dot] org. You will then receive the meeting link to join the session. Hosted by marce norbert hörler.

Next session: Monday, 16 March 2026, 7 - 8.30 pm
